Cathy Cartwright Senior Lecturer CPHT NewcastleCathy Cartwright
Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist and Supervisor

Cathy Cartwright is a graduate of the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) having qualified in early 2016. Prior to this, Cathy began training in hypnotherapy in 2013 and by May 2014 had gained both a Certificate and Diploma in Therapeutic Hypnotherapy. In 2015, she approached the National Council for Hypnotherapy directly and went on to achieve the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), considered to be the gold standard in Hypnotherapy training. By this point, Cathy knew this was the area she wanted to work in and was very keen to build on her knowledge and skills in Hypnotherapy but was unsure of where to go to in order to get the training school she needed to help her to fulfil her ambitions.

During this time, Cathy was also working in schools. It was a chance conversation with her colleague who happened to mention the Clifton Practice that sparked Cathy’s interest and led her to contact the CPHT. This proved to be a major turning point for her. She was delighted to be signed up for the Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy as the CPHT is a recognised centre of excellence. “I found The Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training school exceptional. It really appealed to me as it provided ongoing support, CPD workshops, supervision and a fabulous network!”.

Cathy qualified in February 2016 and has never looked back! Cathy is committed to her ongoing professional development. She has attended a wide variety of CPD workshops and qualified as a Hypnotherapy Supervisor with the Clifton Practice.

Cathy runs a busy main Hypnotherapy practice with two further practices across the Rochdale areas, and thoroughly enjoys working with many different clients from all walks of life. She is very passionate about the work she does “I love what I do, seeing those positive changes in people, helping them to help themselves”
Cathy graduated from the University of Bolton in Teacher Training (2004), later adding to the mix, qualifications in Observing and Assessing (2007). She has thoroughly enjoyed teaching and assessing in Further Education, especially motivating and supporting adult learners on their journey toward their goals with helpings of humour along the way!

“Enabling people to achieve is my passion. Joining the CPHT team has undoubtedly been the best step I have taken to achieve my dreams. I am very proud to be a Senior Lecturer on the CPHT Newcastle team and look forward to helping others achieve theirs”.

Anne Wyatt Senior Lecturer CPHT NewcastleAnne Wyatt
DHP, HPD, BSc, MA Hons, MNCH-reg, AfSFH-reg

Anne Wyatt is a graduate of the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training school (CPHT) in Plymouth, qualifying with the prestigious Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma (HPD). She has gone on to train as a Supervisor and is now a Senior Lecturer at CPHT Newcastle. Anne also runs a busy, full time hypnotherapy practice in Banchory in Aberdeenshire.

Anne initially graduated with an honours degree in English from Glasgow University, focusing on Linguistics before going on to study at Strathclyde University and qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist. For much of her previous 18-year long career as a Speech and Language Therapist Anne lead specialist NHS services for people who stammer as well as running the training department. It was during this time that her interest in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy was sparked. Working increasingly with clients who experienced significant levels of anxiety, depression, anger as well as phobias resulting from their communication difficulties, it became apparent that often it was these issues and the thought processes around speaking, that significantly increased the impact the communication issue itself had on the lives of her clients. She became determined to find a way of helping them to find a positive way of moving forward. A chance meeting with a student already on the Plymouth CPHT course had Anne hooked and the very next day she had arranged an interview and discovered the wonderful world of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. Within a year, Anne had left her Speech and Language Therapy career and now has a flourishing full time Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Practice, sharing the daily delight of clients who regain control of their thoughts, emotions and behaviours and get their lives back on track again. The capacity people have for positive change through this approach never ceases to amaze her and Anne finds it an absolute pleasure and honour to go to work each day.

Anne also has considerable experience as a trainer having both written new courses and delivered accredited packages for many years to a wide variety of professionals, University students and parents. Teaching and supporting others to develop is something Anne is passionate about and she has developed a lighthearted, practical and engaging style over the years. We learn best when we are having fun, and CPHT training is certainly fun!

Anne is no stranger to setting up and marketing a new private practice and in making the transition from the world of being an employee to being self-employed. This gives her a detailed insight into the challenges faced by students and newly qualified therapists. Within a week of qualifying from CPHT in Plymouth, Anne moved to a rural location in Aberdeenshire where she had no professional or personal links. Three weeks from deciding to open her own practice there, she had paying clients and the business has continued to flourish ever since. As she says, if she can do it, you can too!

Outside work, Anne is a keen flute and piccolo player and enjoys her hobby working with fused glass. She continues to live in Aberdeenshire with her fiancé Paul. A little-known fact and one certainly not given away by her Scottish accent, is that Anne was actually born in Gateshead! Bringing the world of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy to this area therefore feels a little like coming home.
